A guide to markets in and around Central Portugal

Whether you are living in Central Portugal and the Silver Coast or just visiting for a short holiday, you must visit a market to get the feel and smells of Portugal. You can buy anything from fresh cheese, vegetables, leather good and household items to live chickens, plants, trees and agricultural items.

Markets are listed by Concelho, alphabetically.

Lourical - Every Sunday morning, this is a really big one so come early and wear good walking shoes.

Tomar

Friday every week - a large morning market which has everything you could want.  In the main market square next to the River Nabáo. It is very popular in summer so be prepared.

2nd Sunday each month - antiques market in Rua Principal (main pedestrian road leading up to the main square)
opens around 10am - afternoon

Torres Novas

Tuesday every week - it has quite a lot of curtain fabrics, clothes, tools and garden equipment on sale. The open market is next to the main market hall with all fish, meat and vegetables. All this by the bus terminal.  The local British community gather often on the market day around 11 am at Hotel dos Cavaleiros by the town square.
