This is the quickest, simplest bread you will ever make! It is a typical South African bread and tastes great.

Ingredients

450g of self raising flour
1 tsp salt
1 dessert spoon sugar
330ml Beer (any cheap lager will do)

Method beer bread

  1. Mix dry ingredients together
  2. Pour in the beer & stir well
  3. Pour into a greased loaf tin & bake in the oven on medium heat (180 deg C) for about 35mins
  4. Turn out of tin and turn over in the tin
  5. Put the loaf tin back in the oven for a couple of minutes to crisp the bottom
    Yes it's that easy!

Additional Notes

Thanks to Nick & Lin for sharing this with us.

Any cheap beer will do for this recipe, but try with different ones to get different flavours, especially good with Dark Beers (Cerveja Preta).
