Expats in Portugal have been waiting for a Golf Course to be built for some time right in the centre of the country. there have been many rumours of golf courses near Tomar and Alvaiazere.

On the 20th of Novenber 2010, the management of Quinta de S. Jose Dos Montes were pleased to show potential players and members around their new golf development.

The event was well attended despite the changeable weather and the heavy rains the night before. However that only went to show that the land drains well in spite of the amount of rain that had fallen. It also demonsrated that the landscape and views around the golf course are stunning whatever the weather.

The sun did creep out as the visitors walked the length of the course and by the time we arrived at the driving range, there was plenty of sunshine to cheer everyone as they drove balls down the course.

The day was rounded off with an excellent spread of biscuits and home produced cheese, jams and honey. This was rounded off by a glass of wine provided by the excellent Encostra do Sobral vineyard of the Ribatejo region.
