The National Public Exercise "Terramoto_24.11" is an initiative promoted by the National Civil Protection Association (ANPC) and organized by NETWORK - National Association of Volunteers for Civil Protection.

It will take place on November 24, 2011, at 11:15 for the duration of one minute.

In that minute they invite all citizens, wherever they are, to practice the minimum actions that are advised in the event of feeling an earthquake: Go down onto your knees, protect your head and neck with your hands and wait for the situation pass.

This exercise will take place in public places like town squares, shopping centers, schools and homes, and can also be copied by all who wish to in their places of work

This awareness campaign is based on a 7 step process, this exercise represents step 5. If you click on the picture all seven steps are explained (sorry only in Portuguese).

Be aware that from the 12th of October this initiative will be publicised and the organizers hope that everyone will get involved as a show of good citizenship.
