HeyPortugal.com
Newsletter 9th October No.21
Hello and Welcome to your weekly Newsletter from heyportugal.com
I had an interesting visit to "A Place in the Sun Exhibition" in Birmingham, UK last weekend, and the surprising part was that it was in the sun, with clear sky's on Saturday. There was a buzz around the Exhibition about Portugal, the talk was of Portugal coming out of a 2 year slump in both visitors and property sales. The Portugal Office of Statistics backed this up this week with improved results about Hotel room bookings. (see below)
As reported last week the price of Hey Portugal is now only €1,95. It is available at a few places now but it will go out to a wider distribution throughout this week. We will update the list of Stockist as they get the magazines, so check the list for your local one.
If you cannot get one from a Stockist then you can subscribe to get your copy of Hey Portugal Magazine posted to you, and be one of the first to get each new edition.
What's New on Hey Portugal.com
We have 2 new articles this week, one in gardening about the Autumn Rains and an Update of the IC3 Roadworks from Alvaiázere Town Hall.
There is also an update of the French Transport Strikes, and we will keep the website updated with any developments on this strike.
What's News - a Round-up of this weeks Local news and a bit of World News too.

Chilean Miners. One of the escape shafts that are being drilled 1/2mile into the ground to release the 33 miners, should break through today. The miners were trapped by a collapse 2 months ago, and hope the final stage of their rescue will start within the next few days.
Low Cost Hub for Lisbon. Ryanair announced its intention to establish a third base in Lisbon during a press conference last week. The airline believes that by next summer its goal could be a reality. It also proposed operating from the airport’s ‘Terminal 3’, which is currently used for domestic flights. Easyjet are also still in talks with Lisbon ariport to establish a base there. (Maybe Hey Portugal's campaign for Winter flights is being noticed!)
Portugal National Statistics office said this week: In August, hotel activity registered 5.7 million overnight stays, year-on-year increase of 5.9%, compared with August 2009. Non residents contributed mostly with 8.0% growth while residents rose 3.1%.
Total income from hotel activity reached 291.8 million Euros and income from hotel occupancy 213.7 million Euros, accounting for increases of 9.8% and 9.5%, respectively.
