On 14th January 2012, Matthew Loddy began the challenge of his life as he set out from The Algarve to run over 2,600 miles to London in just 100 days.
The 2tonRun - 100 marathons in a 100 days -is a pretty tall order and Matthew intends to raise over £100,000 in the process for the Framework Foundation.
The Framework Foundation was set up in 2011 to raise money for the Teenage Cancer
Trust and other worthy causes after the early death of his friend Phil Latham at the age of 36.
Trust and other worthy causes after the early death of his friend Phil Latham at the age of 36.Matthew, Managing Director of Framework (Specialist Works) Ltd, a Hertfordshire based scaffolding contractor is running up the coast of Portugal, Spain and France in consecutive marathons. His aim is to return to the UK and take part in the Virgin London Marathon on 22 April to complete his epic journey.
Matthe set off on his first leg - the Lagos Marathon on 14th January and from the 26th January, he will be passing throught the Silver Coast Region. He was in Cascais on Thursday and we estimate that he should be in the Porto region by around Sunday 5th of February. Please check out his blog to find out each days' exploits.
We spoke to Matthew this morning (27th January) and he explained briefly about the current difficulties with the support vehicle being filled with Gasoleo instead of Gasoline!! Also the weather yesterday was not favourable with Sun and Rain interchanging to make going tough. And finally Matthew is having some difficulties his personal fitness, with blisters, muscle pain and hip discomfort all adding to the challenge. You might think someone would get down but he remains rather upbeat and positive. Well done!!
Loads more information is on his blog. On the 28th January we should have an estimated schedule for Matthew's Portugal Marathons so come back here to find out where he will be. If you can go along to support his efforts, he would be very pleased to see you all.
